Hi Don,

Yes indeed, a wake up call. I got to work at 9 and asked my co-workers if they felt it. Some reported the computer terminals shaking back and forth and said they felt it, yet others who were standing said no. This is quite typical of reports for low mag quakes.

But here is something that most people don't get to experience. I live six blocks from my office to the east (toward the fault). My home was built in 1980 and is wood frame construction on a cement slab. The office was built in 1997 and is a single story 10,000 sq ft building also on a cement slab. From my personal observations at home to their reports at the office, the office building actually shook more than my home.

Now as to the RCF being an extension of the Pinole Fault or the Hayward, there seems to be some different points of view on this issue. I think its the latter rather than the former.

As for Don and I trying to outquake each other, he has better surroundings to beat out mine. He has five or so known faults in his neck of the woods and I only have the RCF at close hand and the San Andreas about 1/2 hour to the west of me. If he jumped up and down on one of those faults down there that was weak at the surface, he might be able to generate a quake. Don, you never said if you bought any fireworks this year, so did you? Any thoughts of Cherry Bombs down inside of those faults? As you know, I don't even like sparklers, so you can be sure that wouldn't apply to me.

Oh, Don, while I have your attention I forgot to tell you that around 4am this morning I had another left ear tone, granite like sound for 15 seconds. Sounds like another Olympia WA event to match the one I had a few days ago. Please put it in your log.

So what's going on with my dual ear tones? Are Dons quake and mine a match for those two? I have no idea. Gotta wait till the 15th and see if anything happens further up north of me and over in the Sierra's. The anticipation is getting to me.

Things are defintely looking up...Petra
