Board members seemed to appreciate the first Zima fable, so here is another. Zima being the consummate observer of nature that she is, enjoys her daily hunt. Today she was out with several other coyotes looking for birds and squirrel's. As they move they watch the leaves of trees and bushes carefully for any movement which might signal a meal. Zima spots a mother bird nesting her young in a tree. She tries to climb the tree, but is not successful, so she moves on. A few hours later a snake is sunning itself on a dirt road as Zima and friends come by. The coyotes are so intent on looking at the bushes and trees that they totally miss the snake lying on the road and walk right over it. The snake being alarmed by the coyotes, hisses, and slithers into the bushes. Zima, now realizing that she missed something, rushes back to where the snake was and searches high and low for the snake that is no longer there. Distressed that she missed supper, she puts tail between legs and trudges on kicking the sandy road. My Moral: Sometimes the most obvious is the hardest to see. I expect there are other lessons here too - any revised endings?
