Re: M8.6 (preliminary) west of Sumatra, tsunami watch for Indian Ocean

It has been over an hour since the quake and CNN is covering it. Compared to other quakes, they are being somewhat responsible/competent but they have almost no information beyond showing people on the street on Banda Aceh (Sumatra). OK, downgraded just now, but to 8.6. There are no aftershocks listed on USGS site yet; that should list all aftershocks over M4.5 and there certainly should be some by now. The tsunami center still just has a watch (and I think it has been 1 1/2 hours), and the link to the international tusnami center does not work. This is lame; I thought they put in systems (ocean bottom pressure sensors, for example) that should have been able to confirm whether a tsunami has actually been generated, after the 2004 quake.

I should get some sleep soon.
