Earthquake Precursor Program and Ring Map Program – March 28, 2012 |
It took a while, but we finally got all of the various subroutines working together in the EPmap programs. And it now runs a Map Mode and a Time Mode without upsets. Ring Map There is an old “Ring Map” program that will probably be merged into the EPmap program. I believe that the theory is that when an earthquake occurs, it send out shockwaves that can affect earthquakes that are scheduled to occur in other parts of the world and cause them to occur earlier, or possibly even later, than they would have otherwise. This does not happen in a random manner according to theory. Instead there are “rings” at certain distances from the original earthquake where the shockwave energy is concentrated. And those areas are the ones where the fault zones are most likely to be destabilized. If I remember correctly, Roger doesn’t believe that the technology is valid. I myself don’t have an opinion on it. I have never tried to determine if the theory is valid. But, the program should be easy to merge with the EPmap program. And this would provide people with an opportunity to see if that powerful 2011 earthquake in Japan, for example, affected future earthquakes that eventually occurred within the ring areas. Science Conference I have been formally invited to submit a paper on my forecasting and computer work to a scientific conference and am attempting to decide if it would be possible to fit presenting a paper at the conference into my schedule. Roger, if I decide to do that it would mean to some extent that your present computer programming efforts would probably not be considered just a hobby anymore.
