My interpretation of what it states is that quite often, people and even animals such as Starlings will choose to follow a course of action that is comfortable for them even though it defies logic and could even be dangeous.

In my opinion, that largely explains why the general public here in the U.S. and around the world has for so many years listened to so much bad advice regarding subjects such as Earthquake Forecasting, the safety of drilling for oil in deep ocean water, and the safety of nuclear power plants, from scientists and private corporations that are largely attempting to propagate their own agendas.

These are personal opinions.
