UPDATE – May 10, 2011 |
UPDATE – Posted by EQF on May 10, 2011 My Earthquake Warning might be downgraded to an Earthquake Advisory in a day or two or just cancelled because the following earthquakes occurred within my expected time window. The Loyalty Islands earthquake had about the right magnitude, perhaps a little on the low side. And both earthquakes are fairly good matches for my EM Signal data. 2011/05/09 18:54:43 56.61S 147.83E 1 6.3 Macquarie Islands Area I would have already cancelled the warning but am concerned that with all of the EM Signal activity lately there might still be some approaching seismic activity out there. The chart below shows one of the main ways that I determine if an earthquake matched my EM Signal data. If the earthquake’s line peak groups match those of the EM Signals then they look like they might be related. Multiple EM Signals were detected. And in this case, several individual signals matched the Macquarie earthquake. And other individual signals not shown to keep the chart from getting too cluttered, and the recent averaged signals on my forecasting chart matched the Loyalty earthquake and some of its aftershocks. I really hope that those were the expected earthquakes. Even a 6.8 near a populated area can be quite destructive.
