Why should I look at your website? Tell me succinctly what I can find there. The last time I was there I found an eclectic mess of webpages with no organization or format, and everything was WAY too wordy.

Heck, I don't always read your posts in their entirety, maybe skim them, because there are simply too many words there. You write a lot, and when the first paragraph fails to impress, folks loose interest mighty quick. Further, when I do take the time to read them, it's just the same stuff rehashed over and over. It also seems to take you a lot of word to say very little. I will read them when your first few sentences show that your posting will have something to offer. BTW, ever notice how there's very few if any responses to you on usenet?

Like I keep saying, you've got a SERIOUS image problem.

Here something for you to consider, try to make lemonade out of the lemons I keep throwing at you. Don't disregard my points simply because I'm being crass with my commentary. Think of them as rough and blunt criticisms. I'm serious when I say you have an image problem. The way you present yourself leaves much to be desired.

I'm sorry if I come across so overtly as a pain in the arse (funny, spellchecker doesn't have 'arse'?), but it seems to me lately that I fail miserably when I try to be nice and word things tactfully. People seem to completely misunderstand my words and intent, so I'm beginning to wonder if I should just cut to the chase and be blunt. I've tried to be nice and people get offended anyway, so maybe I should be mean and give them a real reason to be offended?

But let me try again anyway.

Here's a specific suggestion. You need to lose the "These are personal opinions" line. Sounds too UN-serious. Scientists don't offer opinions. They offer hypotheses with interpretations of facts and data to back up those interpretations. It sounds like you are slapping a legal disclaimer on your work. It says, "don't take me seriously since this is JUST an opinion." As they say, "opinions are like arseholes, and they ALL stink."

Another specific suggestion. The reason I keep harping on the "who are you" is because it will give people a REASON to listen to you. When folks know something about a person they are going to be much more receptive to listening to what that person has to say. We don't need a 1000 word freakin' biography. Look at it this way, you are trying to sell an idea (earthquake prediction) and it's a serious product, so it requires serious salesmanship. Who's going to buy a serious product from a masked man hiding in a dark alley? My suggestion, "hi, my name is ______ and I received a degree in ______ from the University of _______." That alone will do much to help you. Think of it as a resume. (sheesh, this is giving me ideas on how to update my own website)

Another specific suggestion. Be more succinct in what you write. Get to the point. Don't keep rehashing the same 'opinions' and commentary of what you are trying to accomplish every time you post a warning. You've been doing this long enough that anyone who has seen your postings already know what you are doing. If they care, they will pay attention. They don't need to keep being reminded why they are paying attention. Don't be wordy.

And in an effort to keep from writing a bigger diatribe than I have, I will stop here for now.

Brian
