Re: Question for Amit |
I have visited your Web site a number of times looking for a table or whatever with earthquake predictions and have never been able to find any. As I have said to people a number of times, to be effective and widely used, forecast data need to be easy to find and interpret. If people visiting your site cannot even easily locate your forecast data then there are problems right at the start. My own data suggest to me that tidal forces on the Earth's crust associated with the gravitational pulls of the sun and the moon are important for earthquake triggering processes. Tidal forces on the Earth associated with other planets are probably so weak in comparison they are likely unimportant. I myself use a ratio of 2.5 for moon related force strength compared with the sun related force. And the triggering picture appears to actually be quite a bit more complex than that. After a lengthy effort I just recently managed to get the basic software developed that will make it possible to put Perl language code in my earthquake forecasting program that will enable the program to quickly do sun and moon location calculations. Once that update is finished, perhaps in a month or two, the program is expected to become an invaluable tool for studying earthquake triggering processes. At the moment it processes data too slowly to be useful for that type of research. The update will increase its speed dramatically.
