Well, all I can add to this now is to say that I believe that most people are pretty ignorant (including legislators) and don't bother to inform themselves unless somebody shoves stuff at them...even then, they may choose to believe charlatans and liars.

I won't get political on this---but my faith in the average American's intelligence and willingness to have civilized discourse has been shattered of late.
