Re: not seeing much progress |
You mention "vested interests moving to frustrate?" -- You are so right! When there is other proposed legislation with other viable solutions to health care that don't make it out of Democrat-controlled Congressional committees to be voted upon, that is "frustration." There are other options other than the public option (e.g., HSA's, tort reform, allow interstate purchasing of insurance, individual ownership of insurance policies, reallocate Medciaid spending to simple vouchers for low-income individuals to purchase their own insurance, etc.), but they never see the light of day because the majority party wants everything its way or else. It's all about control! So if you like what the government has to offer in the bill's present form, then you are going to LOVE the rationing that is sure to follow and the added costs to all -- which, by the way, would start right away. The health care that is proposed in the government's bill will not start until 2013, but cuts to Medicare and increased taxes, fees and penalties for employers and employees will start immediately -- to gear up for the huge bureaucracy. BTW, Emma Lazarus' poem on the Statue of Liberty greeted legal immigrants as they landed at Ellis Island. Government run health care will be available to the 10 million plus illegal immigrants already in this country and will be an attraction for yet more to come. Instead of a Lazarus quote, I think that a Reagan quote is much more appropriate: "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."
