Re: World science earthquake forecasts |
Thanks for the information. As a professional analyst one of the things I have learned over the years is to never say that something is impossible or incorrect. Quite often you learn that it was simply a translation error and that the original information was correct after all. Your basic earthquake forecasting theories might be valid. But I suspect from my own data that they probably are not. Earthquakes result when geologic processes such as tectonic plate movements etc. cause strain to build in a fault zone. Eventually the rock layers cannot be bent, compressed, or stretched any farther. And they abruptly fracture resulting in an earthquake. Where my data indicate the moon comes in is with the actual time that the earthquakes occur. Forces related to both the sun and the moon gravities frequently dictate what the earthquake triggering time will be for at least higher magnitude earthquakes. And the entire triggering picture is quite a bit more complex than that. The Solid Earth Tide, the Tide Generating Force, and perhaps ocean tides are likely involved. It appears to me that you might be generating what could be higher probability time windows at best. And if an earthquake occurs at some location during that time window then that is the reason. Also, I don’t see how you can generate magnitude estimates from that type of information. Your magnitude for the April 6, 2009 Italy earthquake was off by quite a bit. However, you might have developed an earthquake triggering equation that is more accurate than what I would expect. Plans are to have future versions of my own downloadable freeware earthquake forecasting computer program include those types of higher probability time window equations.
