Brian; As it happens I'm currently involved in learning Fortran over again. I found the SilverFrost FTN95 which has a free personal version and uses an IDE called Plato which makes things a lot easier. But Fortran is still fanatical about syntax and it's error statements are frequently of little use in figuring out what's wrong. It's taken a couple of days to transform a couple of small TB programs to FTN95 but it's the best way to learn.
