Re: Computer languages project |
I'm downloading Silverfrost now. Who knows? Maybe I'll switch to F95? XB is a good language but it is severely lacking on support libraries. It can link to C libraries which is great, but it requires a wrapper program to allow a proper interface. In order to write the wrapper, you have to understand some C. So, that leaves me out writing my own wrappers. For example, I would love to write code that displays 3D graphics via DirectX. Then I could write a really cool 3D quake mapping program. Fortan seems to be better supported in this regard, so once I get over the learning curve, we'll see what we can do. Oh, another thing I need is big number support. I have a penchant for multi-hundred (or more) digit calculations.
