Chris, Yes, when it was all said and done we were in the black for 2007. The Banker was happy. Husband has penciled out corn has to stay above $4.00 bushel for us to make money this year. Fuel we all know about. Fertilizer has more than tripled from three years ago. Some types are now over $720 a ton. Add in the uncertain weather that is, I think, here to stay farming is a very iffy place to be. For this part of the country most fields are not worked, the soil temps are still around 45 (want 50), and too cold and wet. The corn season is getting off to a late and bumpy start. Glad to hear you and yours are safe and dry. Yes, I am still lurking out here and still believe that northern/northeastern Alaska will have a major quake up to 7.4 between April-Nov. 2008.
