Jane, no, not laughing although not agreeing (or disagreeing) on the global warming/quakes. You could certainly have an increase in quakes in an area of thrust stress (minimum stress vertical) if you remove an ice cap. I'd have to get out my Atlas to see where things are, but don't think there are ice caps there. Changes in sea level could trigger quakes in certain areas. But, the consensus is that sea level may only change 1 m or less this century (unless Greenland and/or West Antarctica melt faster than seems likely to me).
The area you talk about may be most affected by melting permafrost. Hmm, maybe that could have an effect on seismicity...how?

I'd be interested in climate change and food supply. Post a little on this, especially if based on scientific study. It's Canie's site, but, especially when posting is slow and significant (to us) earthquakes low, I consider climate change not "off topic": it is something that earth scientists work on (and of course atmospheric scientists).
