I agree about the sun and moon data. And one of the projects still scheduled for when time becomes available is to exhaustively test those sun and moon locaion data generation routines we worked on a while back and then merge them into the forecasting program. Right now using Mica it takes about 5 seconds to generate all of the needed data for a single earthquake. That includes ocean tide and Solid Earth Tide data which are extracted from previously prepared data files covering the years 1990 through 2009. Once a week or so I copy the earthquake data from the NEIS tables, process them, and then store them in a permanent file. When the list of earthquakes to process gets backlogged a few weeks that entire process takes a fair amount of time. I have to start the program running and then return to store the results an hour or two later.
