Yes, that was sobering indeed. We have a city wide plan that was adopted a number of years ago that requires all unreinforced masonry buildings to be retrofitted within ten years. So far, its going along great. There is funding to help the building owners achieve success.

As to the warnings, personally I would be in favor of them, but I doubt the building owners would be.
