Hello Jane, I'm in Santa Barbara, where it has frozen 4 straight nights (you will see that nationwide in cost of oranges and maybe avocados, but it is exceptionally dry here...not a normal El Nino year in SOCAL for sure. On the other hand, heartland wife and daughter have not left our rented quarter acre in 3 days, but will leave it today, although school is cancelled. They were lucky that the heavy precipitation Sunday fell when 32 and 33 deg F...so an inch of ice on ground from earlier but not to heavy on trees(?) so they have power. I get to drive from Kansas City to Columbia tomorrow afternoon...I assume the highways will be OK by then.
