Once again, you people are guilty of generalities. Get your facts straight before you do your finger-pointing.

Bush did not mandate the Creationist view. That's as big a peice of nonsense as the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood.

A book, "Grand Canyon, A Different View," which included writings of creationists, was already on sale at park bookstores. It probably got in there in the first place merely because of its title -- probably never reviewed.

The contents of the book came to light when a UC geologist, Wilfred Elders, did a critical review of it. Other reputable geologists weighed in on the matter and urged that the book be removed in order to distinguish religious from scientific knowledge.

But when the Grand Canyon National Park Superintendent attempted to block the sale of the book, he was over-ruled by the NPS headquarters. They intended to do a policy review of the matter with a decision to be announced later. So far, though, no decision has been announced.

Now where, in all of the foregoing, did it state that Bush mandated the Creationist view? Only true Bush-haters interpret it as such. True, these were probably Bush appointees, but it's a real stretch to say that Bush mandated it -- he probably is not even aware of the flak going on about it.

To say that Bush mandated the Creationist view is just plain stupid.
