Just send this to Karen and Emily, the paper's authors. "wow, my quote was oversimplified and distorted a bit: "John Vidale, a University of California, Los Angeles geophysicist who had no role in the study, said it's plausible ground-shaking can influence faraway aftershocks. But Vidale said he's not convinced this occurs near the ruptured fault." I thought I said inevitable rather than plausible, and "not convinced it is the dominant process very near" rather than "not convinced this occurs near"."
