Re: Throwing The Baby Out With The Bathwater |
Roger, Geoforecasters I'm sure had no intentions of jumping out there with an 8.0 quake prediction. They are far to level headed and the title says it all "FORECASTING", that's a pretty good indication of what their program might have been. For heavens sake, anyone who knows Lowell Whiteside knows he is not an alarmist. But the tar and feather squad didn't want to see how it worked so they just threw the baby out with the bathwater. Now they've left we Californian's hanging out here with no prediction program. My opinion is that the science community doesn't want a successful prediction program because if it occurred then those funding dollars would disappear and people would lose their jobs. It would only take one year after a successful program hit the airwaves and good bye hole digging in Parkfield. As they say, "The Truth is Out There."
