A comment or two |
Roger, Well it didn't come about quite like that; so I'll elaborate a bit. I contacted Musson recently about our new mapping program and was able to easily show him some improvements since we spoke last. It was then that he asked me if I had ever seen his paper on evaluating predictions. I knew you would be interested inviewing it and that's where we had to get creative to bring it to the net. As it is an SRL Letter it requires the permission of the Seismological Society of America's editor, Susan Hough and she said we could display it but it had to come from the authors web site. Then it was back to Musson to figure out how to accomplish this neat little task and he did so by adding a pdf file. I really enjoyed this letter because it demonstrates that you don't have to throw mud on a person who is not a scientist in order to attempt to evaluate what they are doing. It is simply a way of opening the doors to a better understanding of what can or cannot be accomplished. And I do want to say that Musson has not evaluated what I do, nor am I aware of his support for what I do, but he is always and forever a gentleman. And Roger I thought you might give us the benefit of your opinion of what he has proposed. Would you care to comment? And do we have any scientists in the audience who may have an opinion they wish to share? Petra
