Can the Palos Verdes Fault Produce a Tsunami? |
Hi All, Chris' posts about the Palos Verdes Fault kind of kindled my interest in it and I've been doing some research and no one mentions whether a 7.0 or greater on the fault away from shore could generate a tsunami. I don't think Long Beach/LA would get it as it's too close, but maybe it could affect other places away from there, like Santa Maria for instance or the upper coast of Baja. The attached link appears in several places on the Internet under various names. I have an idea the students are using it to document their experiences.
