Ear tones - question for Petra

Hi Petra,
Your comments about ear tones have got me interested, and I've started reading up on them a bit now. I do hear these tones myself, though I've never paid enough attention and I am amazed at people (like you) who can pin down all the details about them.

In my research yesterday, I found an article about ear tones on a site called terraresearch.net (no idea about the legitimacy of the site). Here's the actual URL to the article I read about ear tones: http://www.terraresearch.net/articles/EarTones.html

This article mentions something it calls "The ‘ear block.’" The article says:

"One of the most interesting effect in sensitives is the ‘ear block’. It has been described by some sensitives as if a ‘mute’ button was pushed. The ear becomes silent to all sound for a short period...."

My question to you is do they mean when everything is blocked out EXCEPT for the tone? Have you had this happen? Usually when I hear tones I can still hear everything else around me, but once in a while everything is blocked out except for the tone. Or do they mean that you can't hear anything, not even a tone? I've never had that happen -- or I guess I have had it happen, but only very very briefly (split second), and it means that I am about to hear a tone. So I don't really think of it as "mute" - it's more like the (silent) drumroll.

I seem to be a bit weak in my ability to form coherent sentences tonight. I hope you can extract the question out of all this...

Thanks in advance for your feedback,

canary
