can't easily make sense of list |
Don, these long lists of quakes presented that way are not easy to make sense of, and I don't feel like spending more time to make sense of this one. I can't even find the Alaska quake. Can you give the date of the Alaska quake and limit the list to M5+? By the way, I have a vague recollection that there were 1000 aftershocks of the Alaska quake M5 or larger....but maybe I am off by an order of magnitude. So far, the NEIC list does not show any significant-looking increase in global seismicity away from the aftershock zone (IMHO) ...so maybe I should retract my suggestion that there may be a global increase....and, if there is not a global increase from this quake, or the other M9s, then it would call into question FFAs and other such triggering that has been discussed on this page......
