What I was looking at was not merely a dip - but all the way to the bottom, for a couple days, without a high proton flux - then that may preceed a very large quake. I would suppose it would be possible to download the solar data - look for these conditions and test against large quakes...6.5 or better? Maybe a nice summer project....for now its Chemistry and Calculus.
