Re: Earthquake forecasting conference |
Hi EQF, I'm truly sorry that at your moment of great glory you aren't at liberty to share this golden time with us. I'm really glad all of my work is a matter of public record. I get to share all of the approach to the event and what happens and the outcome. I do feel really blessed. It is fun to share what we learn and share the little details that go along with them. So speaking of great moments, I'll go a tad bit off topic here and tell you and the others of course that I had one terrific day yesterday. The company I work for is the 14th largest privately owned insurance brokerage in America and the head honcho likes to share good times with all of his people. He is in his 40's and way ahead of his time in how he does his business and he truly is one of a kind. So each year we have a big company Christmas luncheon in San Francisco. Yesterday all of us, some 240 were picked up in limosines and taken to Morton's Steak House at Union Square. Some came from Oregon, others from Florida and also 5 offices in the Bay Area. We had a fabulous lunch, received our annual Christmas bonus and were limo'd home to our doorsteps. That way no one gets a DUI. My wish this year was to ride in a Hummer Limo and my wish was granted. That's what I rode home in. It was fantastic. Most people are afraid of change, but I'm not one of them. This event really goes well beyond the catered deli lunch, $100 and a box of chocolates I got from my last employer for 4 years! So yeah, it gets me out of bed in the morning, makes me glad to go to work and I do love what I do. EQF, I hope your conference is a stunning success, I'm just really sorry we can't enjoy it with you. We can't know what will be happening or the outcome, because it will never be public record. I wish for you and all of us it could be.
