At the beginning of every line there is a reference number for that earthquake or precursor. And at the end of some of the precursor lines there is the same type number which identifies the earthquake which I thought might be linked with the precursor. With some precursors there are links to more than one earthquake. That would take some time to explain.

None of the earthquakes listed there are meant to be regarded as precursors for other earthquakes.

As far as why the earthquakes occurred when they did, my data do not really explain that. Instead they are intended to let you compare one earthquake with another and compare precursors with earthquakes. Similar “C, M, S, or T” numbers for two earthquakes in some area such as Turkey (August 17 and November 12, 1999) or Afghanistan (February 4 and May 30, 1998) suggest that both earthquakes may have been triggered in the same manner.

Finally, those lists which are now about a year old are there largely for demonstration purposes. If the Web site CGI programs and earthquake forecast data files I have been talking about ever get organized then my newer data should become available.
