Subsolar probability

Hi all;

In re: subsolar probability, I did a series of NEIC searches for mag. 5+ quakes. I had to restrict it to a 10 year sample from 1990 thru 1999. I did a global search, netting 14904 quakes, then searches for the 60 degree wide bands centered on 173E and 7W. Those totalled 6746 quakes.

(6746/14904)*100 = 45.3%, the chances of having a 5+ quake in those bands.

You can take it from there to see if anything significant shows up, but be cautious of small sample errors!

Roger
