Re: Geomagnetic storm plus gravitational forces - Say What?

Hi EQF,

I watch the Solar data site daily and there haven't been any significant geomagnetic flares to speak of, for more than a week. The last flare was a few days ago and it was only a little M1.

I think you must be referencing the KP index. While that does affect satellite and telephone communications it has very little effect on triggering earthquakes, or much else.

For our readers who are unfamilar with this site, I'm attaching the link. For those wanting to know which area's are directly impacted by solar flares, they can look at the "D-region absorbtion map" which shows the location and intensity in the area most affected.

You know the Sun and the Moon are not that near to each other, at least the last time I looked at a solar map. The Sun is quite a few miles further away than the Moon. While these two heavenly bodies do have an affect on Earth, their close proximity to each other at one time or another I don't will bring on earthquakes of any import.

Of course this is just my personal and ever so humble opinion.

Petra
