Re: Santa Cruz island |
I will do that. I went to a talk given by mark Legg on Monday - he had some interesting things to say about the tectonics in the area. Apparently there is evidence in some reflection type data for a thust fault at the southern end of the Santa Cruz island - (offshore) - He also thinks the San Clemente Fault doesn't just terminate at the island but becomes a blind strike-slip fault that continues under the Island and this same fault might be the one responsible for the 1812 Santa Barbara channel quake evidenced by a stress shadow in the northwest area of the channel. A lot more went with the talk - it was quite interesting - He did a presentation on it at the AGU last fall I think. I have the abstract -Termination of Major Strike-Slip Faults at Collision Zones within We're leaving here at 4:30am on friday...
