For Mike, M. Thunder Storm |
Hi Mike, M. My question concerns thunderstorms. When I was stationed in upland Thailand we would have some lightning storms at the beginning of the monsoon season that I always felt were strange in that I have never seen this type of storm anywhere else. You could see the lightning flashing inside the cloud and on some occasions go from one cloud to the other, but at no time did the lightning ever come towards the earth. There was no thunder with the storm, or at least I didn’t hear any. About an hour later it would start to rain. By that time the lightning would be gone. The rain wouldn’t be very hard, but the further we got into the monsoon season the harder the rain would be, and there would be less lightning. What would be the most likely cause for this?
