Hi Mike. I believe there is a fault not to far from where I was. It is in the Chiang Mai Province.

I visited a pagoda while I was there and I was told that it had been destroyed by a series of earthquakes in the mid 1500s.

There was a 7.2M quake in 1995, but was located much further north.

My partner, who was a Thai, told me that they see these kinds of storms every now and then, but not much more. His English was limited and so was my Thai.

There was one other place I would see this type of storm was near Takli, which is located further south. Have no knowledge of faults in that are, but there are a lot of mountains in that region.
