Thanks for the reaction and I am trying to solve not only your querry but also those
who are interested in low cost earthquake prediction study. Here is the details:

The observatory consists of a smooth surfaced 6 x 4 feet wall constructed in North/South
direction. The wall is open to the sky and sunlight falls perpendicular on its surface
from east in the morning and west in the evening. About 3 to 5 feet away facing the wall,
a sharp object is fixed so that its shadow is cast directly on the wall while the
sunshines.

I am marking the sharp end of the shadow on the wall at a particular time every morning with
a dot and this process is continued throughout the year. Due to the earth's movement in the
orbital path, the positionof the dots vary each day. The displacement between the dots will
vary normally from 1 mm to 10 mm from north to south during December-June and south to north
in June-December period every year.

If all the marked dots during a year is connected by drawing a line, the figure will be like
a horizontal '8'!

The line linking the dots on normal days will be an inclined straight line proceeding towards
North or South depending on the period of reading taken. But if any disturbance is caused on
the plates or sub-plates of the earth due to any reason, there will be a sudden deviation in
the path of line linking the dots.

This deviation indicates that the portion of the earthplate is lifted to a higher position
due to pushing of pressurized lava inside the earth's plates to a new positon on that particular
day. This happens due to various forces acted on earth as discussed earlier. This deviation is
the warning of an impending earthquake within few days. It is due to the viscosity of the earth's
plates which resist the impact from reaching the upper crust of the earth.

So the total cost of this observation worked out less than Indian Rupees 100 or 3 US dollars!
