I have to point out that for all your examples of how it works, there are 3 or 4 similar cases that don't fit.

If you can't condense things down to rules that determine when (at least) major quakes can be expected, you're just fooling yourself.

Amit, for example, has very specific rules relating to the moon and some of the planets which he is convinced indicate when a quake will happen. The fact that the results are no better than chance makes no impression on him and I fear that you are in the same situation.
