EQF, thank you for your input. 1. The WWWBoard code running Earthwaves has been so hacked that it would take a lot of work to copy over the changes to the newer version and make sure nothing broke. I've seen the newer version, so I could get the docs. 2. Not too worried about file security. I've got backups. 3. If the reaction of your program to a DoS attack is to shut down, then the DoS attack succeeded in its goal, which is why it's called "Denial of Service". Again, not worried about security. I have a 'real' web host ($$$ - unlimited disc space, 15TB/mo bandwidth, unlimited email addys). They can handle it. They have in the past (a 100k+ machine botnet brute force password attack against certain sites). Besides, the worse I've had to contend with are bogus registration attempts, which I've reduced down to one hand count per month. 4. Adding pictures is enough of a change that it would be easier to simply change to new software altogether. I had made the alternative suggestion of simply adding a picture hosting service for the exclusive use of Earthwaves users, but no one expressed any interest. (Actually, I was thinking of a document host so they could put in more than just pictures.) 5. Different topics, different forums. I've considered it, but based on past history when suggestions have been made, I think folks like things exactly the way they are. If I'm wrong, please speak up. A lot of what you propose already exists. Maybe not for WWWBoard code, but there are plenty of BBS codes out there that include all the features you are looking for. I've dabbled with them in the past. They're pretty much plug-n-play. They all have their pros and cons. But why reinvent the wheel unless it's for the enjoyment of writing the code. But most importantly, I have other things to focus on at the moment. I've been spending my time designing what for the moment I'll simply call an "artistic display" with an eye towards commercial production. It's based on an idea I've had for 15+ years. I might even use Kickstarter to launch it. It's about time I put my electronics/computer/software skills and other knowledge to use and make some money.
