Pacific NW Repeating EQ Patterns

Hi All,

I just thought I'd make mention of my observation of repeating patterns in the NW since the Olympia 2/28/01 quake.

Fist there was activity off shore of Vancouver Island, then comes the Olympia quake, lots of small quakes up and down the NS corrider near Puget Sound and then things picked up in Eastern WA with Colville and Spokane.

Though we don't have years of data collected to form any kind of hypotheses I'm sure some very intelligent geo scientists are noting this pattern as well and I'm sure at some not so distant point in time a paper noting this pattern will emerge.

So what should we expect the in days - months ahead? Another moderate quake with 50K of Olympia and of course more off shore activity around Vancouver Island and then more repeats in the Eastern WA areas. If vulcanism comes into play, which is surely not out of the realm of possibilities, it may not be Mt. Rainier that comes to life, but another one most likely north of Mt. Rainier. Why? Because the largest off shore quakes are north of Rainier.

As a side note, tomorrow night I'll be sleeping much closer to my backyard buddy, the Rodgers Creek Fault and I'm hoping its going to move just a tad so I can see how good I can feel it, when I'm only two miles due west of my study area. At least this way, I won't have to chase EQ's in this area. Also it puts me about 7 miles closer to the Geysers and I'm curious to see if I can hear them any better when I'm closer. So now I can live the experiment, not just think about it.

Nearly hanging ten near the RCF, Petra
