Re: Don and Petra's competition for earthquake in Montana

Hi Lowell & Don,

Well, its not exactly what I was looking for, but perhaps soon enough something closer will pop up. You see, more than a year ago I made sort of a connection between the geyser activity at Yellowstone and earthquakes in Helena, MT. I wrote to a seismologist recently who knows the area very well and asked him if he had made any connection and of course, he never answered. Gosh that behavior is so familiar.

But in this case, it was a shear hunch. I just didn't feel that Kalispel was the place, but closer to Helena. But what about Challis, ID, I'd suspect we aren't so far away from a quake over that way. If for no other reason, all of the activity in WA with the subduction event may well trigger something in Challis.

Its been a highly strange day today. First of all I was supposed to have some minor surgery and the doctor called in sick. Then when I was home for lunch I heard a sound and looked out into the street to see the mailman had two mail trays of mail fall out of his truck onto the street. I've never had or witnessed these kinds of events before. So where's the topper? What's #3. A quake closer to home? One I won't sleep through? Who knows.

I'll eat that steak dinner, because Don can cook a steak like nothing I've eaten before. Its beautifully glazed on the outside and yet rare in the middle. A melt in your mouth event. Yummy. Thanks Don.

You'll get that chicken dinner yet. But with only about 17 days remaining until I move, cooking that meal has to be put on temporary hold.

Petra
