Re: Far-afield triggering |
Hi Lowell, Don, etc. Apparently you have nailed down at least one aspect of eq forecasting with the far-afield trigger effect. My question is, when there are triggered quakes such as those at Halmahera and Hokkaido, do THOSE quakes in turn trigger quakes "far-afield," and if so, because they are generally smaller than the initial quake (in this case, the New Zealand quake), do they trigger yet smaller quakes? Or does the location of the triggered quake determine the size? Please keep your answers fairly simple :-) Thanks, you guys, for a really unique learning experience!
