Thx for the response. Yeah...Don's no doubt having fun 'callin quakes' too.... BTW, are you the person doing the far-field predicitions in addition to posting them (or is that somebody else)? BTW, weren't there one or two geologists who went out on a limb way back when and were predicting a big quake in Peru...which never came about as predicted? Didn't this cause much consternation among the inhibatants as well as against the USGS...thus bringing about an environment against making predictions which then permeated seismological thinking for generations (Yeah...I liked your phrase from above...). I think this happened in the New Madrid region too where somebody was predicting "the big one" only to have it be a no show.... It's really no wonder that alot of potential effort in this subject area probably got re-directed into other areas. Anyway, guess we'll chalk up the far-field triggering idea to group consciousness / sensibilities....
