News From The Fault Line

Hi All,

I had the opportunity last evening to visit the home of a woman who suffered substantial damage from last weeks Rodgers Creek 4.2 event. The fireplace was cracked both inside and out with fieldstone falling from the outside. Her two water wells were damaged. Cracks in her roof. Her kitchen was left a mess and her freezer in the garage had its contents thrown out on the floor. However something I saw that was really significant was on the north wall of a creek running through her yard 14 large boulders were moved south away from the wall and a little to the right. This earthquake had been catagorized as a E/W thrust fault event, however, in viewing everything inside and outside of the home I can safely say it was a definite N/S event. This tells me this sleeping giant slumbers no more. Thus the warnings out tonight for this area I'll take seriously. I have no symptoms to report as of this time, but if they develop will report them.

However, from a contact at Mammoth Lakes he reports that his ears are ringing substanially tonight and that area may be something to consider on the list of possibles.
