Update Tres Pinos Quakes

Hi All. According to the USGS the latest series of quakes near Tres Pinos occur in 10 year flurries. Since records have been kept there have been some flurries in 1940, 1954, 1971, 1980, and 1990 at or near this location. The area of this round of quakes was very near Cienega Road and occurred on the San Andreas Fault. There were a total of 35 quakes of which only a few were felt.

The better half said she heard the quake more then anything else. She became aware of the quake when she looked at the light we have hanging from the ceiling and noticed that it was swinging. The sound she heard like that of a train going by. She was standing in the kitchen at the time.

Diana Terry who works at the Paicines Post Office said she felt 3 of them. She said we have them so often around here I probably won’t remember them after lunch. She’s right. My better half had forgotten about them until I asked if felt she any of them so I guess she is getting use to them.

All in all I would have to say it was a typical day in Hollister. We have a lot of quakes here most of which are never felt, but every now and then we get one to keep us honest. Just a reminder that we do indeed live in earthquake country.

Petra would enjoy living here, as she likes to feel earthquakes. The lady is weird. She is the only person I know who enjoys feeling an earthquake. She was upset when she realized she slept through the Yountville quake. I’m going to have to have a long talk with her. Take Care…Don in creepy town
