We had this same conversation here a couple of months ago. Your definition of "seismology" is a lot narrower than mine is. I could probably come up with projects that good amateurs could do related to faulting, but the problem is my time: I have earth science students who would work with me and I would get more credit for my (so-called) career working with students than working with amateurs. I just don't have time and funding. My time needs to go to manuscripts and proposals.
