103 degree quakes |
Hi all; The 103 degree ring has been getting a lot of attention lately so I decided to take a look. First I sorted out all the mag 7+ quakes in the NEIC catalog. Then I compared each one to the catalog looking for the first quake that was 100 to 106 degrees away. To my surprise, EVERY main quake had one in that distance range, usually a small one but with no way to determine the location in advance. I can't see this as a useful tool but I'm open to suggestion. Anyone?
