While we try and figure out what to do about Earthwaves (or Canie decides whether to shut it down), here is a science post about True Polar wander. Not that there is nothing in there about it being sudden; it says 10 million years to occur. So not going to happen on December 21.

Hmm, if I have nowhere low stress to post, guess I'll have to go back to talking to myself. I also have over the years found a lot of the posts here to be interesting.
