Queen Charlotte Islands 7.7 quake

Hi all, Looking at the Intensity map on the new USGS site, I see several cities in Southern Cal have responses to the Queen Charlotte Islands quake last night. I am near Burbank some 2337 miles from the quake. Since the responces are sent in by interested people, my question is, can a quake of that magnitude be felt this far away? I have to say at times I think I experience a very small quake, usually at night, and there is nothing recorded nearby. Generally any big quake recorded was too far away, I thought. My two cats were upset last night at about the correct time but I figured it was the wind or something in the neighborhood. Just wondering out loud, Bob in Woodland Hills
