help, my laptop is in the oven to escape the fog |
I heated up the over to about 115 deg, turned it off, and put my laptop in there. HW and I have a proposal due and we should have a draft in a few days. I was going to write text this morning. I am on the island and it is foggy and my laptop would not start up: once or twice it would start to start up and then that sequence would abort. Most of the time the light goes on for a few seconds. Of course I did not back up the seismic reflection (acoustic sub-bottom imaging) project I was working on; luckily I sent out the graphics as .pdf so at least that is not lost. I am pretty confident that the hard disk would be OK, but installing software on a new laptop would be a mess, plus I have to wait until December for a laptop to be paid for from a grant: would be out of my pocket (as usual) if I have to do it now. Any other ideas? Electroshock? soft music?
