That was a well done report, although it seemed a bit alarmist. There were few building collapses due to shaking in Japan or in Chile. For Pac Northwest, may depend on construction and ground conditions. I'd be interested in how far into Puget Sound and up Columbia River there would actually be a devastating tsunami. These have, I think, narrow entrances and (also not sure) Columbia River may have shallow bar at mouth. Sure, there would be some kind of seiche in Puget Sound. Seattle is way far up the sound; I came into there on a ship in 2005.

In a previous thread on the M5.6 quake in NW California I commented on how shallow the slab was there (quake at 28 km I recall), and speculated that this would mean the megathrust above the slab might rupture beneath the coast. A map of what might have been a potential rupture flashed up in the Vidale interview and it did show some orange or red zone extending far more under the land of northern California than was the case farther north.
