The reporter confused the M9 with an earthquake on the Seattle fault in mixing clips. I wrote this on our new Facebook PNSN group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/thePNSN/): John Vidale Disregard the advice to run for the hills when you feel shaking - that was meant only for people in the potential path of a tsunami. Do NOT run out of a building during the shaking. Deliberately walk out after the shaking has subsided. John Vidale Another caveat, after watching the clip again this morning - An M9 would NOT directly make big waves on the Seattle waterfront. The path through the water from where the ocean-bottom moves to Seattle is too long, convoluted, and narrow. Conceivably, it might trigger landslides that could, but landslide-generated waves scoring a direct hit on the viaduct and waterfront are very unlikely. Eddie was probably talking about an M7 earthquakes on the Seattle fault.
