Canie,

In my opinion you must at times download the entire EarthWaves archive from your server to a portable drive. I understand that you have a blazing fast download capability. So, that probably would not take too long.

And I will also suggest with some humor intended that if possible, when you get tired of running the EarthWaves board you should donate the entire EarthWaves board collection of posts to some organization such as the Smithsonian Foundation.

Psychologists and historians would likely be eternally grateful to you. The board posts over the years clearly demonstrate why certain things in science don’t get done regardless of their importance.

Finally,

If you had taken my suggestion and created a parallel bulletin board long ago for use by people who are actually trying to get forecasting programs developed etc. it would likely have saved everyone a lot of grief. And something might actually have been accomplished.

Susan and I did have such an arrangement in place at first. But when she moved on, the parallel board operations came to an end.

One of my projects involves establishing such a parallel board. I have just not had time so far to go looking for one or more board administrators. I can host such a board at either of my two main Web sites. But I couldn’t both effectively manage a bulletin board and continue to focus on forecasting research.

These are personal opinions.
